Oracle expands cloud applications with AI agents for supply chain

Oracle presented new AI agents within Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications at Oracle AI World in Mumbai. The agents are designed to support supply chain managers in accelerating decision-making processes and increasing efficiency in the areas of planning, procurement, production, maintenance and logistics.

Automation of complex supply chain processes

The AI agents developed with the Oracle AI Agent Studio for Fusion Applications are embedded directly into supply chain processes. They enable productivity gains by automating end-to-end workflows and providing insights for faster and more informed decisions. «As supply chains become more complex and disruptions become more frequent, companies need faster and more automated ways to keep operations running,» says Chris Leone, Executive Vice President Applications Development at Oracle.

The AI agents run on the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and are equipped with integrated security functions. They are seamlessly integrated into Oracle Fusion Applications and are available at no additional cost.

AI agents for planning and procurement

The Planning Cycle Agent supports planning teams in automating task coordination. It retrieves planning activities, assigns them and updates them in the planning workspace. The Component Replacement Agent helps teams in product lifecycle management to automate component changes and minimize interruptions. It identifies components to be replaced, recommends alternatives and analyzes the impact on the supply chain.

The Planning Measure Expression Agent enables planning teams to create key figures and KPIs faster and more precisely. It translates business questions into defined planning calculations and detects errors. The Autonomous Sourcing Agent helps procurement teams efficiently manage competitive awards for high volume, low unit price purchases.

Optimization of maintenance and production

The Maintenance Work Order Cost Estimation Advisor Agent helps maintenance teams to optimize planning and proactively manage costs. It estimates the cost of work orders based on planned materials, labor and resource utilization. The Outside Processing Shipping Agent helps manufacturing teams optimize shipping processes and improve collaboration with suppliers.

In the area of warehouse management, the Inventory Tasking Agent identifies open tasks, evaluates the skills and availability of employees and automatically assigns tasks. The Inventory Aging Advisor Agent helps to reduce storage costs due to slow-moving stock. It identifies ageing stock, evaluates storage costs and recommends measures such as returns and stock transfers.

Logistics and order management

The Wave Research Advisor Agent helps logistics teams solve warehouse problems faster and improve picking and shipping performance. It analyzes warehouse orders, identifies problems and provides actionable recommendations. The Task Management Assistant helps identify and prioritize at-risk orders to increase shipping reliability.

The Purchase Order to Sales Order Converter Agent speeds up order creation by extracting data from PDF orders and automatically creating sales orders. The Product Configuration Agent automates and simplifies product configuration. It interprets requirements in natural language and generates final configurations for quotations and orders.

The Service Parts Advisor Agent helps service teams to shorten response times. It uses the knowledge database and service history to identify the right spare part and trigger orders automatically.

Developing individual AI agents

In addition to the AI agents embedded in Oracle Cloud SCM, customers and partners can use the AI Agent Studio for Fusion Applications to create, test and deploy their own customized AI agents across the enterprise.
