The disruptive potential of blockchain technology is evident on the stock exchanges these days: a few days ago, the price of the blockchain-based currency Bitcoin cracked the 60,000 dollar mark for the first time ever. \"Such upheavals unsettle many companies,\" says blockchain expert Georges Grivas from the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. \"They naturally want to quickly acquire the know-how to get ready for the change.\" Accordingly, the blockchain training landscape is booming. \"But so far, there is a lack of international quality standards that ensure transparency in the offerings and thus promote the development of high-quality blockchain solutions.\"<\/span><\/p>\n

To this end, three universities from Germany, the United Kingdom and India, together with the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, have set up the DEC Institute<\/a> was founded. The aim of this consortium, the first of its kind in the world, is to build a comprehensive and internationally recognised digital certification platform. According to co-founder Georges Grivas, who holds a seat on the institute's board of directors, the certification is intended to ensure that further training for specialists in the blockchain sector meets certain professional criteria.<\/p>\n

Blockchain pioneers join forces <\/strong><\/p>\n

The DEC Institute is located on the Zug-Rotkreuz campus, where the Department of Computer Science at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is also based. This means that it is not only in the immediate vicinity of the university, but also of \"Crypto Valley\" in the canton of Zug, where numerous companies, associations and foundations in the blockchain sector have set up shop.<\/p>\n
