According to the Paris Climate Agreement, Switzerland has committed itself to halving greenhouse gas emissions within this decade and, by 2050 at the latest, to produce only as much CO2 as can be sequestered. This means, among other things: The energy requirements of industrial and building complexes must be drastically reduced.<\/p>\n

Like Green Lab<\/a> the numerous laboratory complexes in Switzerland as a research country have a considerable impact on its eco-balance: compared to an office building of comparable size, a laboratory consumes up to ten times as much energy. A considerable proportion of this - in extreme cases 90 percent - is needed to operate the infrastructure. Renewing this infrastructure is therefore often cheaper than trying to master the challenges of today and tomorrow with the infrastructures of yesterday, says the Atos press release.<\/p>\n

Who is with Green Lab?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In addition to Atos, the Green Lab members include energy and real estate companies, construction firms, infrastructure specialists and the technology group Siemens, an important Atos partner. This year alone, the participants plan to support the transformation to more digitalization, security, sustainability and competitiveness with a total of 23 programs and events. Atos will be involved in many of them under the leadership of Bruno Schenk, CEO of Atos Switzerland, according to the digital transformation provider.<\/p>\n

Net zero until 2028<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Atos committed to this in February, Achieve net zero emissions by 2028<\/a>. Thanks to its many years of experience with the topics of digital transformation, automation and decarbonisation, the company offers an exchange of experience and sound advice at the interface of safety, sustainability and competitiveness within the Green Lab initiative.<\/p>\n

\"Atos is using laboratories and their infrastructures to raise the visibility of a highly specialized sector of the life sciences that has been rather neglected so far,\" says Lorenzo Nanetti, Business Consulting Partner Life Sciences at Atos. \"That's why we support Green Lab's integrated approach, which aims to make Switzerland's research facilities safer, greener and more attractive to young talent. In this way, we not only strengthen the competitive opportunities of Swiss science, but also help the country achieve its climate goals, in line with our 'Accelerate Customers' program at Atos Switzerland.\"<\/p>\n

The expertise that Atos brings to the initiative is focused on four areas: Digitization of work processes, lab automation and integration, change management to support transformation, and decarbonization. In addition, Atos offers tangible technical solutions, for example in areas such as robotics and digital twin for simulation, to support adaptation to new working models and practices. Atos intends to share its expertise through webinars, workshops and roundtable discussions, the company concludes.<\/p>\n
