Considered the first globally recognized data protection certification, ISO 27701 is an extension of the ISO 27001 information security management standard, built on the same requirements, controls and objectives, and aligned with the GDPR. While normally the issue of data protection is primarily considered from a legal perspective, this new certification provides not only a means to easily demonstrate compliance, but also a structured framework for best practice.<\/p>\n

Requirements are recommended for information security and the protection of personal data, and practical guidelines for the management of data protection programmes are outlined.<\/p>\n

\"Protection of people\"\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"It's about more than just protecting data, it's about protecting people,\" said Jos\u00e9 Alberto Rodr\u00edguez Ruiz, Global Data Protection Officer at Cornerstone OnDemand. \"With this new certification, we bring a powerful means of protecting people's rights to our customers worldwide. Our focus is to give all the organizations we work with the peace of mind that we handle their data with confidence by offering compliance reporting and career protection. Ultimately, this also enables our clients to gain the trust of their employees.\"<\/p>\n

This latest announcement closely follows previous Cornerstone data protection initiatives, such as the appointment of Jos\u00e9 Rodr\u00edguez, who was one of the first ten data protection officers to be certified in France following the 2016 GDPR announcement.<\/p>\n
