The award was presented at the \"Swiss Industry 4.0 Conference\" in Baden by the event partners Siemens, Swisscom, SAP, AUTEXIS and the University of St. Gallen. Prof. Dr. Ursula Renold, President of the FHNW's University of Applied Sciences Council, had the pleasure of accepting the award: \"We are extremely pleased to receive this award, as it shows that we set the right sails early on with our intensive work on the topic of digital transformation and Industry 4.0. Today's award brings additional wind into these sails. We are doing everything we can to stay on course and will continue to follow our drive to achieve above-average things for business and society.\"<\/p>\n

The \"Swiss Industry 4.0 Award\" was presented for the first time this year. Each year it goes to a university, an institution, a company or a person who is committed to the further development of the Swiss workplace using Industry 4.0 solutions.<\/p>\n

Interdisciplinary competence for regional and international companies<\/strong><\/p>\n

The UASNW is pooling its know-how in an interdisciplinary \"Industry 4.0 Competence Centre\" headed by the UASNW School of Engineering, with the participation of the UASNW School of Applied Psychology, the UASNW School of Business and the FITT Technology Transfer Office. It supports both regional SMEs and internationally active companies in exploiting the opportunities and advantages of new technologies. For example, the researchers recently developed a new type of diagnostic system together with an automation company, which allows the global monitoring of complex production plants in real time using intelligent software. In another research project with a Swiss manufacturer of sanitary fittings, an innovative process was designed for the operation of grinding and polishing systems.<\/p>\n

What is Industry 4.0?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Industry 4.0 stands for the 4th industrial revolution and a fully digitalized mapping of a company's value chain. Devices, machines and materials communicate with each other via the internet and thus enable a smooth process. Industry 4.0 includes concepts such as Internet of Things, Big Data or Smart Factory.<\/p>\n
