A Chief Information Officer (CIO) with more than 10 years' experience earns an average of CHF 260,000 per year in Switzerland. The Chief Digital Officer (CDO) is on the same level. This is the result of a study by HR consultant Michael Page, which surveyed 1800 IT professionals in Switzerland. Behind these two positions comes the IT security chief, who can expect an average annual salary of CHF 220,000 with 10 years of experience or more. In senior management, Michael Page also lists the Head of IT with a salary of CHF 220,000 and the IT Manager, who earns CHF 160,000.<\/p>\n

The best earning computer scientists below this level are the software architects, whose income is estimated at CHF 200,000 after 10 years in the profession. The other profiles in development vary between CHF 130,000 for ERP business analysts or front-end developers (JS), for example, and CHF 150,000 for Java developers and ERP project managers.<\/p>\n

Experience in international companies is particularly popular<\/strong><\/p>\n

Given the situation on the job market, Michael Page sees an advantage with the candidates. They often receive several offers and can thus make a practical choice. Experience with ERP and with international companies is currently in particularly high demand, as are IT diplomas and certificates. Recruiters see cloud-based positions on the rise and higher wages in jobs where niche skills are in demand.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, salaries are not so high everywhere. The lowest salary is earned by an employee at the level 1 help desk, who with 10 years of experience still receives CHF 85,000. Those with more technical knowledge can already hope for 100,000 francs in their pay packet.<\/p>\n

Jobs in the infrastructure sector pay between CHF 105,000 and CHF 150,000. System administrators receive the least money, database administrators and network and security engineers the most. Data specialists earn between CHF 110,000 as data analysts and CHF 160,000 as data scientists.<\/p>\n

If you want to secure the popular specialists, you have to pay attention to a few things. The respondents named the following as the most important criteria for choosing an employer: exciting projects, flexibility and the opportunity to work remotely, longer-term prospects and the opportunity to acquire new skills.<\/p>\n

The study on wages in IT is based on a survey of 1800 IT professionals in Switzerland. In addition, Michael Page drew on the in-house database and the knowledge of his consultants.<\/p>\n
